Turning 70 was more than a birthday—it was a milestone, a moment to pause, reflect, and give thanks. As I celebrated this remarkable season of life last November, my heart overflowed with gratitude for the journey that had shaped, stretched, and blessed me beyond measure.
A Life Rooted in Purpose
Over the years, I wore many hats: daughter, mother, grandmother, caregiver, civil servant, and entrepreneur. Each role taught me resilience, patience, compassion, and faith. My 35 years of service to the City of New Orleans instilled in me the importance of dedication and community, while my transition to the travel industry allowed me to embrace a calling that brings joy to others.
Starting Exodus Tours and Travel LLC became one of the most fulfilling chapters of my life. Travel was never just about destinations—it was about connection, healing, celebration, and making memories that last a lifetime. Helping others experience the world has been a blessing I continue to cherish.
Family, Faith, and Gratitude
Family has always been my foundation. Being a mother and grandmother has brought me some of my greatest joys, and watching my family grow and thrive continues to inspire me.
I remain deeply grateful for the love, support, and encouragement from friends, family, and clients who have stood by me over the years.
My faith has carried me through every season—through challenges, transitions, victories, and quiet moments of reflection. I am forever grateful for God’s grace, strength, and favor, which have guided each step of my journey.
Celebrating the Gift of 70
At 70, I felt empowered, fulfilled, and excited about what still lies ahead. This chapter became about living intentionally, embracing new adventures, and continuing to give back. I have always believed that age is not a limitation—it is a badge of honor and proof of a life well lived.
This birthday celebrated not only the years but also the experiences, lessons learned, and dreams still unfolding. I look forward to more travel, laughter, love, and opportunities to serve.
A New Orleans Celebration to Remember
While my original plan was to celebrate this milestone in Jamaica, those plans were unexpectedly canceled because of Hurricane Melissa. I had to quickly pivot and create an alternative celebration, which turned out to be a beautiful surprise—right in the heart of New Orleans.
Celebrating during the holiday season added an extra layer of magic. The historic Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans was transformed into a winter wonderland, glowing with festive decorations, twinkling lights, and timeless elegance. Every corner felt festive and elegant, perfect for such a special milestone.
The celebration began earlier that day with a lovely birthday brunch in a private dining room at New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Company. Surrounded by family and friends, we shared laughter, memories, and gratitude—setting the perfect tone for the day.
After brunch, we stepped out onto St. Charles Avenue and waited for the iconic New Orleans Streetcar. We boarded for a classic New Orleans experience, riding together as friends and family filled the car with joy. Along the way, tourists and passersby joined in—offering birthday wishes, smiles, and even applause. It felt as if the entire city were celebrating with me.
Inside the Roosevelt Hotel, laughter, love, and gratitude filled the room. From the stunning décor to the warmth of everyone present, the evening was unforgettable. I captured beautiful photos of each moment—snapshots of joy, elegance, and a city that knows how to celebrate life.
What began as an unexpected change of plans became a powerful reminder that the most meaningful celebrations are often the ones closest to home. New Orleans showed up for me in the most spectacular way, and my heart remains forever grateful.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on this milestone, I am reminded that life is not just about the destinations we dream of but also about how we embrace the journey—especially when plans change.
That same perspective is what I bring to my clients every day: creating meaningful, seamless, and memorable travel experiences—no matter what comes my way.
If you’re ready to create your unforgettable journey, I would love to help you start planning your next adventure.
